Algarve Traditional Cuisine
Apart from a very high quality, international cuisine, the Algarve also offers delicious regional dishes. Seafood, soups, oregano snails, pork and clam "cataplana", roasted dried octopus on the grill (Lagos style), grilled squid and cuttlefish, to name just a few of the many specialities on offer.
Special, sweet, attention should be given to the fig pastries, marzipan pastries shaped like little animals or fruits, the famous "D. Rodrigo" and "morgado" from Lagos, puff pastry from Olhão and the egg yolk, almond paste and caramel pastries from Tavira.
Try not to miss tasting Lagoa wines, internationally famous, as well as those from Lagos and Tavira and the various regional liquors.
